Abstract:
The transit industry is on the cusp of many workforce changes. With a significant portion of the workforce approaching retirement age, many agencies are facing challenges with recruitment and knowledge transition. There is a need to refocus efforts to attract young professionals. Generation Z now makes up 26 percent of the US population and are starting to enter the workforce. Connecting with this generation to understand their values, communication skills, and how they work will be the key in attracting the future transit workforce.
