Abstract:
Improving demand-responsive transportation (DRT) requires an understanding of the characteristics of the system and its environment. This requires that the demand-responsive transportation system keep detailed and consistent data to measure current performance and the progress of performance over time. This guidebook presents ways to measure, assess, and improve demand-responsive transportation system performance, focusing on DRT in urban areas. The guidebook is divided into seven chapters: (1) introduction, (2) the basics of demand-responsive transportation performance, (3) performance data and definitions, (4) performance measures, (5) assessing performance, (6) data from representative systems, and (7) improving performance.
