Abstract:
There are opportunities throughout the United States to improve the local and regional coordination of transportation services, although recent efforts have been directed towards improving coordination of publicly funded transportation services for the transportation disadvantaged to improve mobility. This report explores these efforts and is divided into seven sections: (1) an introduction; (2) a history of coordination in the U.S.; (3) a discussion of current coordination trends and challenges; (4) a review of transportation services and options; (5) the processes used to plan, budget, and promote coordinated services; (6) a review of funding services; and (7) information on technology and its application to transportation coordination.
