2021 Summer Transportation Camps
The Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University will again host two weeklong summer camps for middle school students.
Camp Option #1: June 21-25 (full)
Camp Option #2: July 12-16 (full)
Camps will run from 9am to 3pm on MSU campus. Each day camp participants will explore a variety of science, engineering, and design topics related to promoting active, safe, and sustainable transportation systems. Activities will include field trips, exploration of local trails by bike, and hands on design activities.

What: A week long camp to get everyone moving with STEM, urban design, and career exploration activities at MSU.
For: Students entering grades 6 through 9 in fall 2021.
Dates: June 21-25 OR July 12-16, 2021
Activities will include:
- A bike rodeo and exploration of Bozeman’s bike trails and biking infrastructure by bike (participants can bring their own bikes or request that one be provided for them)
- A tour of pop-up traffic calming projects to keep non-vehicle road users safe
- Hands-on labs that explore innovative infrastructure materials for a more sustainable transportation system
- Field trips of discovery
- Hands-on design projects.
Cost: The camps are FREE for participants thanks to generous sponsorship from FHWA and MDT.
The camp will follow recommended COVID prevention measures. Participation is capped and masks and social distancing will be required.
