Upcoming webinar: Advancing Trails Through Maps, Apps, and Analysis Tools

Date: July 21, 2020
Time: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET
Cost: Free
Organization: American Trails

This webinar will introduce participants to new tools and technologies being used to advance trail projects around the country, including:

BikeAble: The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s customizable tool for analyzing community connectivity and evaluating bicycle infrastructure efficacy. This presentation will showcase several case studies and discuss how BikeAble is helping communities better understand how active transportation investments can improve local access to trails, people and places. As an efficient and affordable analysis tool, the presentation will highlight how BikeAble can be used to effectively analyze quick-build projects during the COVID-19 crisis.

GreenInfo California Demographics Tools: Everyone deserves access to trails and parks, and public datasets can help drive equity in park and trail access. This presentation will profile two free tools from GreenInfo Network to demonstrate who benefits most from recreation access, including how shelter-in-place orders have uneven impacts on park access equity.

OuterSpatial: A mobile app that gives stewards of our open spaces control over what information is presented and how. This presentation will feature several state and local organizations actively leveraging this app. By publishing quality, accurate information about trails, organizations can engage users in supporting trails in a variety of ways. We’ll also highlight ways that land managers are leveraging OuterSpatial to communicate with their visitors during COVID-19, including posting alerts about closures and reopenings, publishing best practices, featuring trails greater than 6 feet wide, highlighting one-way trails, and much more.
