Planning for Pedestrian Safety: Leveraging FHWA Resources and Local Partnerships to Improve Pedestrian Crossings
Date: March 12, 2019
Time: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm MT/1:30 pm to 2:30 pm ET

Pedestrian fatalities across the U.S. have been increasing at alarming rates, leading local and State agencies to ask how they can improve public health and safety for pedestrians. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) program promotes several proven countermeasures to improve pedestrian safety at crossings. This webinar will introduce the FHWA Guide for Improving Pedestrian Safety at Uncontrolled Crossing Locations as a resource for selecting countermeasures for different roadway and safety conditions. The webinar will also discuss the importance of local and State agency coordination when developing the pedestrian network.

Panelists include Becky Crowe (FHWA), Sagar Shah (American Planning Association), Kerry Wilcoxon (Arizona DOT), Lauren Blackburn (VHB) and others.

This webinar is supported by the FHWA Every Day Counts Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) program.
